E started his first day of daycare today. I took him to the doctor yesterday and got him hooked up with some antibiotic cream for his eye. It was easy to put in his eye when he was sleeping, but the two times i tried when he was awake were the problem :) The problem is that his eyelashes are so frickin' long, when I tried to put the cream in his bottom eyelid, his top lashes kept getting in the way. And by the time I managed to figure out how to get the cream in his bottom lid, he was sobbing - the whole thing was a mess.
His eye looks much better today already. I am still pretty sure it was a viral thing to do with his cold, but the doctor didn't want to take any chances.
When we got to the daycare this morning there was a big warning on the doors that there were several cases of Pink Eye going through the facility. So I guess my theory that he got it from his 30 minute tour a couple of weeks ago may actually be true.
M took today off too for what he calls E's "First day of school". E was playing shy with the daycare worker when we first got there, but by the time I explained his cloth diapers and put his food and bottles away, and M put his indoor shoes on, E seemed okay. He didn't even cry when we said goodbye and the daycare worker took him to play with the other kids.
After we dropped him off, M and I went to Tim Horton's for coffee. I was so tempted to have a huge breakfast and a fattening specialty coffee (even though I ate at home) but I resisted the urge and had a regular coffee and a planned donut, which is 6 points (basically the amount of calories in a small meal), but still WAY less than a big breakfast would have been. M had a coffee, an apple juice and a breakfast B.E.L.T.
I don't feel guilty about eating the donut because I am actually not too sick to get out of the house and go walking this week. Yesterday I walked for 90 minutes. My hip needed a lot of icing afterward, but I was still happy. E slept for the last 45 minutes of the walk. It was so hot out yesterday, I was glad we could get out and enjoy the day.
